2025 Highlight
Data Science Trainings for Health Researchers Using R.
In 2025, data science training sessions were offered in collaboration with the R for Fun Club (RFC), supporting healthcare and public health practice through practical skills in R programming.
Two courses were introduced:
Each course is designed with short, easy‑to‑follow modules, including quizzes to reinforce learning and end of course certificates.
More than 350 health researchers have taken part so far, gaining valuable skills to strengthen their work. A few participants have even stepped up to lead sessions, helping to inspire and guide others.
The training program continues to grow, with plans to expand into advanced levels and nurture a supportive community of health data enthusiasts. These courses are still available on the Afredac e-Learning and can be accessed for free.
Automated Data Repository System
A new chapter in strengthening research ethics across Africa is unfolding. The MAP‑SACT African Research Ethics Committees Registry is coming to life as a living, searchable database that brings together verified information from committees in South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Egypt, and the DRC, with more countries joining soon.
What makes this exciting is how it blends human expertise with AI efficiency, pulling updates directly from official sources while keeping everything traceable and transparent. Built with smart feedback loops, the system ensures policy information stays accurate and sustainable.
